Gorgui has over 30 years of experience in the design, implementation, and management of development projects. He began his career at the Ministry of State Modernization and Technology before being recruited by Africare, an American NGO, to assist in rebuilding and strengthening Africare Senegal’s organizational processes. He was later promoted to Programs Officer, where he monitored the implementation of all programs and supported the Country Director in developing the country fundraising strategy. His subsequent positions included Senior Programs Officer, Regional Business Development Officer for West Africa, and eventually Senegal Country Director.
As Country Director, he applied innovative approaches to strengthen business development and programmatic efforts, set institutional objectives, and reaffirmed Africare’s value proposition. He introduced new technologies for cross-office programs and financial tracking. In 2019, the Africare Board of Directors appointed him to lead the transition from Africare to PanAfricare, becoming the first CEO of the new African-led organization for three years. Since 2023, he has served as the Executive Director of Sister Cities International Senegal.
Gorgui has a Bachelor’s in Economics (Economic Policy Analysis), Université Pierre Mendes, France. He also has a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Program Analysis & Computer Systems, Institut Supérieur Sénégalais d’Enseignement Professionnel, Senegal.
Gorgui is a thought leader involved in various strategic committees, including Steering Committee to Advance Community Health; Task Force for eHealth in Senegal; UN Humanitarian Country Team; Global Fund Country Coordination Mechanism.
