Alexus Whilby brings a unique blend of cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit to her role. Born to Jamaican immigrants in Wilmington, Delaware, and raised in Lyon, France, Alexus has a deep appreciation for diverse cultures. She returned to the United States at 13, settling in Atlanta, Georgia.
At Oglethorpe University, Alexus served as President of the French club, utilizing her fluency in French to foster cultural exchange. Her involvement with the French Chamber of Commerce further expanded her networking and partnership opportunities.
Alexus has a multifaceted career, including roles in sales and marketing at ALTA Language Services and as an entrepreneur. She was the first black franchisee owner of Cookies by Design and founded an event planning company, excelling in orchestrating high-profile corporate events and over 10 unforgettable weddings.
In 2022, Alexus returned to Delaware, where her family’s Jamaican heritage was honored with the New Castle County proclamation. As the secretary of the Delaware African and Caribbean Affairs Commission, she champions the cultural richness of Africa and the Caribbean. Additionally, she serves as the etiquette founder at the Global Etiquette Institute.
